throw-together of graphicworks ©
tingxuan past and current,
+layouts i've previously cooked up, so it's a timeline of sorts, how my style moves. Most of what I put up here I call
graphicworks because they're not digital paintings, photography, nor manipulations. I like to play around with people-poses. I
stalk
deviantart for stock images. It's interesting how a photograph
can be wholly gorgeous yet it takes on a whole new form of character after certain touchups and effects. I like
exploring that.
I love webdesign. I think layout-making's a paradox in itself, because it's artsy yet so technical.
I don't suppose one could find any aesthetic aspects to the manipulation of html and css and stuff like that,
because it's just computer jargon and it's dry and, well, mechnical. Whilst art's the exact opposite,
isn't it, emotions and depth and all the different layers of interpretations. And you wouldn't think they could
go hand in hand together, but somehow it has, and whilst I'm adjusting the pixels and the divs I'm creating something
I'm expressing my feelings through. And I love that paradoxical feel.
Back in 2001 when we had compulsory computer lessons in school I was fascinated with HTML. I remember fiddling around with
Josh Hartnett photos and constructing eye-hurting pages that flashed five different colours. Then I got into geocities,
then a host, then for a while I didn't do much because of school, just played around in livejournal.
You needed basic CSS for LJ styling but it was kind of different.
SOULTRACK's the only proper site that lasted. Then I bought
T-X.NET.
My designs have gotten into top layout communities (when they'd been alive) on livejournal and I've had my fair share of building
websites. I'm looking into photoshop vectors and perhaps flash. Now I code manually in notepad. I like typing, so it's
actually a pleasure :D
